The City of Springfield’s Landmarks Board is seeking input on updating the Design Guidelines for the Commercial Street Historic District.
The Landmarks Board will host its first public meeting for the project 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 22 in City Council Chambers, which is located on the third floor of Historic City Hall, 830 N. Boonville.
The meeting will begin with a presentation by the H3 Studio consultant team followed by the opportunity for attendees to provide feedback and share ideas.
Two more public meetings will take place on June 19 and July 10 at 5:30 p.m., location to be determined, to share the progress of the proposed drafts to update the Design Guidelines.
The Design Guidelines, along with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards, provide the basis for decisions by the Landmarks Board regarding exterior alterations to historic properties located within the district. The guidelines are used by applicants and their architects and contractors to submit project proposals for evaluation and approval.
