Contemporary Cuban Printmaking @ Springfield Art Museum
Dec 8 2018 @ 9:24 pm – Mar 17 2019 @ 10:24 pm

Pulled entirely from the collection of the Racela Educational and Charitable Foundation, this exhibition presents over 70 prints by thirty-three Cuban artists who have all worked at the Taller Experimental de Gráfica de Habana – the oldest, continuously running print workshop in Cuba. From its inception, the workshop has focused on connecting artists with traditional printmaking techniques and fostering a dynamic artistic community based on the sharing and exchange of ideas, experimentation, and art criticism. This supportive community has allowed Cuban artists a relative freedom of expression, even amid the country’s larger political and cultural issues.

All-School Exhibition at the Springfield Art Museum @ Springfield Art Museum
Mar 2 – Apr 29 all-day
All-School Exhibition at the Springfield Art Museum @ Springfield Art Museum | Springfield | Missouri | United States

Every March, in celebration of Youth Art Month, the Springfield Art Museum invites student artists from across our community, in kindergarten through 12th grades from public, private, parochial, and home school groups to exhibit outstanding artwork in the “All School Exhibition.” This highly anticipated show has been a staple of our exhibition schedule for well over 40 years. Artwork created by children and teenagers is often relegated to education wings or hallways when it is displayed in museums. By showcasing students’ work in one of its primary gallery spaces, the Springfield Art Museum seeks to highlight the importance of arts education and honor the accomplishments of young artists, as well as their incredibly talented teachers, many of whom are practicing artists themselves.
