Heat Advisory prompts pool schedule changes, cooling centers available

To help residents keep cool and stay safe during National Weather Service-issued Heat Advisories, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board adjusts schedules at outdoor pools and the Springfield Skate Park, and offers cooling center options.

When scheduling allows, the Park Board strives to keep at least one outdoor pool open late during Heat Advisories, including:

Wed., July 17, Westport Pool, 3100 W. Mt. Vernon Ave., open until 8 p.m.

Thurs., July 18, Silver Springs Pool, 1100 N. Hampton Ave., open until 8 p.m.

Previously scheduled Splash & Sizzle event keep multiple pool locations open late Fridays and Saturdays in July, including:

Fri., July 19, Grant Beach (1300 N. Grant Ave.,) Westport and Silver Springs pools open until 8 p.m.

Sat., July 20, Grant Beach, Westport,  Silver Springs and Meador (2500 S. Fremont Ave.) pools open until 8 p.m.; and Fassnight Pool (1300 S Campbell Ave.,) is open until 10 p.m.

Outdoor pool admission is $2.50/youth and seniors, $3/adults, 1-5:30 p.m. Admission drops to $1 or free with a canned food donation every day after 5:30 p.m. and that discount rate  continues when pools are open late. Food donations benefit Ozarks Food Harvest.
