Job Center’s Career Closet gets makeover thanks to retailer TJ Maxx

The Missouri Job Center’s Career Closet has a new location and a new look, thanks to the generosity of retailer TJ Maxx. The TJ Maxx team graciously offered their expertise, time and equipment to renovate a surplus storage room at the Job Center’s East Sunshine location. This make-over will increase the Career Closet’s capacity to serve more job seekers while providing a more organized, comfortable and boutique-style experience. The opportunity came about due to an ongoing relationship between TJ Maxx and the Job Center’s Youth Department, which assists with job coaching and placement for youth ages 16-24.

“TJ Maxx reaffirms their commitment to the economic development efforts in our community,” said Mary Ann Rojas, Job Center director. “They recognize that even having the right clothing to wear to an interview can boost someone’s confidence. We are grateful to TJ Maxx for providing racks, supplies, and their retail know-how in expanding our career clothing options for our job seeker.”

The Career Closet, located at the Job Center’s 2900 E. Sunshine location, provides professional career and work-appropriate clothing, at no cost, for job seekers who have upcoming interviews, career fairs, or for the first day of a new job. This resource is available to the public during the Job Center’s business hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Donations of all sizes of men’s and women’s gently used and like-new interview and business clothing are appreciated and accepted at the East Sunshine location.
