CPO purchases former Legal Services of Southern Missouri building for use as drop-in center

A building that formerly housed services for low-income people will continue in that capacity as a purpose-driven, drop-in day center to help people transition out of homelessness.

Using City of Springfield-allocated American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, Community Partnership of the Ozarks (CPO) purchased 809 N. Campbell for $1.7 million in July. The building formerly housed Legal Services of Southern Missouri, which relocated to 3130 S. Delaware in early summer.

The day center will connect those who are unsheltered with specialized case managers promoting mental health, health care, social, legal, and housing services in a safe and supportive environment using best practice trauma-informed care. The tentative opening date for the center is spring 2025.

“We are grateful for the funding from the City and look forward to offering this new resource to our community,” said Janet Dankert, CPO president/CEO.
