Are you as tired as we are of driving through the neighborhood and seeing large items on the curb waiting to be reused, repurposed or tossed!? If so, let’s do something about it! You’ll need a truck and trailer, volunteers with strong backs, durable gloves and a sense of humor and donations to take the items to the landfill. Vouchers are available for mattress, tire and TV disposal through the Clean Green SGF program.
Pick a day, create a route and do a drive around the neighborhood. Be sure to log (keep record of) what you dispose of so we can justify our time and gas money. Then, watch the trees smile and neighbors wave!
Chase Street cleanup
On a warm (ish) winter day, neighbors and volunteers from the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors, determined to make Woodland Heights shine, did an impromptu trash cleanup along Chase Street. With trash bags and grabbers in hand, they enjoyed some conversation and the slow walk along the street picking up trash. Just two hours of time and the muddy winter grass breathed again. Every little bit helps!
