What’s going on in Westside? We meet at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at Golden Avenue Baptist Church at the corner of Mt. Vernon Street and Golden Avenue. We have been given yard signs with the meeting information. These will be placed around the neighborhood as a reminder the meeting is coming up. Remember to follow WNBA.SpringfieldMO on Facebook to keep up with what is going on in the neighborhood.
You may have seen some WNBA members walking down your street picking up trash. Maybe you noticed the winter creeper that had been choking the trees at Zagonyi Park is now cleared off the trees. This is making the trees look better, and healthier! Clean Green Springfield and Hatch Foundation hosted the Neat Neighborhoods friendly competition among the registered neighborhoods to clean up and improve neighborhoods, fostering a sense of friendly competition and camaraderie.
Westside will be hosting our fall Neighborhood Cleanup 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 5 at Study Alternative School parking lot, 2343 W. Olive. Be on the look out for your postcard in the mail. This is a great free resource to clean up brush and/or get rid of old furniture. You can toss anything except for hazardous materials. The postcard will give the details.
If you would like to volunteer to help unload our neighbors’ vehicles, please reach out to Sharon Brooks at dcwms@mchsi.com or text 417-576-6983. The cleanup is strictly volunteer. Come join in the fun and meet your Westside neighbors. We could really use your help!
