Late summer and autumn were a busy time in Delaware with the Lemonade Crawl, Neat Neighborhoods competition wrapping up, Lantern Walk, Halloween decoration judging and Trunk or Treat, Bass Pro Marathon, and finally the Delaware/Rountree Neighborhoods Cleanup in November.
The highlight of August was the 5th Annual Lemonade Crawl, for which six stands won awards including lemon-themed swag and certificates with a cash prize (to buy more lemons next year!) The lemonade stands get more inspired and delicious every year, and we’re happy to see new people participate.
2024 saw the first Halloween Decorating Awards and some homes knocked it out of the graveyard with the volume and variety of decorations. To properly honor the most creative decorators, the awards were spooky skeletons and neighborhood swag.
The Delaware Pyrats & Pixies ‘Ahoy Matey’d’ their way through the Bass Pro Marathon cheering section again. The pickle juice was twice as popular this year – maybe because of the dreary, damp but warm morning?
Much trash yard waste, electronics, and 3,280 pounds of metals left the Delaware/Rountree cleanup in November, also on a damp day that had residents wondering whether we would be there. But of course we were, and what a good feeling to slam that last dumpster door at noon!
