The Greater Parkcrest Neighborhood Association (GPNA) enjoyed a busy fall this year participating in several activities. Even though the month of September culminated the “Clean Green Neat Neighborhood Contest”, the “clean green” mission continues to be promoted with frequent Facebook posts of individuals picking up trash during their daily walks and participating in other activities that make our neighborhood a great place to live. Additionally, for our GPNA January meeting, a guest speaker from James River Basin Partnership will present ways to protect our area streams which start in neighborhoods.
In October, GPNA hosted a photo booth at the Horace Mann Elementary Fall Festival. Several hundred families attended the festival and were able to capture the event for their family at our booth decorated with pumpkins, mums and other fall decor. Also in October, GPNA, along with Fassnight and Seminole-Holland, met to enjoy a taco bar and hear from representatives from the City present information about the Spring Forward SGF ballot initiative.
GPNA participated in the Bass Pro Marathon Cheering Challenge in November. With the theme of “Team USA-GPNA, ”team members donned patriotic clothing, waved U.S. flags and played a variety of fun music provided by DJ Will Cropper. Despite the inclement weather, the runners enjoyed the enthusiastic support provided by GPNA “cheerleaders” and the invigorating tunes.
