The Doling Neighborhood Association, in partnership with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, hosts the 3rd Annual Concert at the Cave Saturday, Aug. 18, 12-6 p.m. in front of Doling Park’s Giboney Cave.
“We had so much fun last year, we wanted to do it again,” said Christina Dicken, President of the Doling Neighborhood Association. “It’s great to invite everyone to a concert in Doling Park and show off our Northside pride.”
This year’s event features performances by Mark Barger, Kevin & Mike, 83 Skidoo, and Shaun Munday. Bands will perform in the natural amphitheater created by the cave entrance.
Park Board Outdoor Initiatives staff offer free cave tours of Giboney Cave, sponsored by Bass Pro Shops. Tours last appx. 45 minutes, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrive early to get your name on the list. Plan on getting your shoes wet and muddy inside.
The nonprofit group, Play it Forward SWMO, will collect musical instruments to help children in southwest Missouri have with the opportunity to discover their musical talents. Please bring musical instruments to donate (no pianos, please.) http://www.playitforwardswmo.org
Doling Museum is also open during the event 12:30-5 p.m., highlighting Doling Park’s history dating back to the 1880s.
Admission and all activities are free and open to the public. Food trucks from Not’cho Ordinary Taco and Kona Ice will sell concessions.
