Division Street has reopened to two-way traffic between National and Glenstone avenues as construction on the Division Street Reconstruction Project begins to wrap up.
Construction crews will remain in the area for the next few weeks to finalize elements of the project including sidewalk and roadway markings.
“We thank the area residents, businesses and services for their patience as we completed necessary reconstruction work on this vital section of Division Street,” says Project Manager King Coltrin. “We’re happy to welcome motorists back to daily usage of this segment and excited to see pedestrian and bicycles begin to utilize the new sidewalk and multi-use path.”
Approved by voters in the City’s 2019 1/4-cent Capital Improvements Sales Tax renewal, the yearlong $4.7 million project included the rebuilding of Division Street, including new pavement, curb and gutter as well as stormwater improvements. A new sidewalk was constructed along the north side of the roadway and a multi-use path along the south side. Gas and water infrastructure renewals were conducted through a cost-share agreement with City Utilities.
