Gerald is a retired teacher from Glendale High School and a Korean War Veteran. He dropped out of high school, to join the military, but now holds five college degrees. In 2005, he was on the steering committee to form the Oak Grove Neighborhood Association and was elected its first president. He has since served as both president and treasurer multiple times.
The association, under Gerald’s leadership, started with 10 members and now has approximately 100 households. He cares deeply about keeping our neighborhood clean, safe and friendly and making it a positive part of Springfield’s overall vitality. He works tirelessly to make our neighborhood motto a reality, which is to “preserve the past and improve the future.” It’s safe to say that without Gerald, there probably wouldn’t be an Oak Grove Neighborhood Association.
