How long have you lived in your neighborhood and why did you choose to live there?
We moved into our neighborhood in 1999. When we moved to Springfield we rented a house as we explored the city. We chose this neighborhood and this block because it allowed us to create a perfect retirement home. We have not been disappointed.
What do you do for a living?
I was a pharmacy tech for 17 years, but I am retired now.
What’s the best thing about your neighborhood?
Wonderful longtime neighbors, solid older homes, beautiful large trees and large yards. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. It offers great affordable housing.
What’s something you’d like to change about your neighborhood?
I would like to change the perception that the rest of the city seems to have about the west side. There are treasures here that are often overlooked because people have not even considered the benefits of living here.
Please tell us about your family and what you like to do in your spare time.
My husband and I fell in love with Springfield while visiting my brother. We planned to move here in retirement but decided to move that up when our daughter and family were transferred to Lebanon. We are now retired and enjoy our west side life. I am an avid gardener and love the half-acre lot with fruit trees, berries, grapes, multiple gardens and a small greenhouse. In the winter, I try to get caught up on my reading. I am also active in the neighborhood association and several other community services.
