The Bissett Bash, launched by the Bissett Neighborhood Association and hosted by Eden Village 2 was held Saturday, May 18 and was a great success! The aim of this event was for our Eden Village residents and others throughout the neighborhood to meet each other and to help build lasting bonds as we grow together and work to improve our neighborhood. More than 100 neighbors participated in the event, enjoying free hamburgers along with live music, games, face painting, a bounce house and much more. Many thanks to the donors and volunteers who made this event possible, but above all, many thanks to the residents and staff of Eden Village 2, who were the true VIPs of this event.
Eden Village 2 opened its doors in November 2021. As of this writing EV2 is full, with 24 formerly homeless individuals now in permanent homes. Homelessness is traumatic and forces individuals to live in constant survival mode. Although experiences vary, common challenges include inadequate rest, lack of safety and security, harsh weather conditions, having to carry all possessions, vulnerability to crime and a continuous search for food. Homeless individuals are the most vulnerable to dying on the streets. Since inception, the EV goal has been to create safe and friendly environments for our homeless friends, placing them in their own homes which they are required to care for. EV aspires for Springfield to become a place where no one sleeps outside.
