January 14: Soup. Jenny Russo is the force behind the great soups and other delicious dishes at Russo St. Michael’s restaurant in downtown Springfield. Learn one of her favorite recipes for a belly-warming soup to tide you over this winter.
January 21: Main Course. Joe Gidman, of Van Gogh’s Eeterie on historic Commercial Street, created his menu after living in the Netherlands. He’ll show us how to make Meatball Zuurkool: two Dutch meatballs with brandied brown gravy served over “zuurkool stamppot,” golden potatoes mashed with sauerkraut and bacon.
January 28: Make a Perfect Pie Crust from Scratch. Eleanor Taylor of Prairie Pie began baking in her grandmother’s kitchen and she’s been providing restaurants and bakeries in Springfield and New York City with custom desserts since she was 16. She’ll show us how to make the perfect pie crust and offer ideas for delicious fillings.
