Businesses in Galloway Village have made our neighborhood a destination as long as anyone can remember. From the Coffee Pot Tavern, to Half a Hill Dance Hall, to the Sequiota General Store and Galloway Village Tea Room, our local businesses attract visitors from all over Springfield and beyond. In an effort to weave our local businesses into our mission to preserve, connect and protect, the Galloway Village Neighborhood Association developed a business member pilot program in 2021.
The brainchild of former board member Judy Stainback, the program offered local businesses advertising on our website and Facebook pages, and association members voted unanimously to waive the participating businesses’ annual dues during the 2021 pilot phase.
Duane Johnson, 2020 Galloway Village Neighbor of the Year, visited local businesses, persuading 22 to join the program, 18 of which chose to join the GVNA as paid business members in 2022. GVNA features business members through a “Business Partners” tab on our website, as well as regular Facebook posts promoting each business individually. With an audience of over 1,700 from the various Galloway Facebook pages, our businesses get lots of love in the comments in their featured posts.
The support is mutual, though, as business partners have generously donated items for raffle baskets, offered discounts to GVNA members, and hosted special events benefiting the GVNA like pancake breakfasts at The Rock and Pasta Express fundraiser nights.
We would like to offer thanks to our current business members: Inspired Boutique by Abilities First, About Faces Photography, Springfield Aerial Fitness, American Family Insurance, Tolbert Realtors, The Rock at Quarry Town Food & Friends, Ely’s Barber & Style, Bambino’s, Green Circle Projects, NIJI Sushi Bar and Grill, Pasta Express, Hearne & Pivac Attorneys at Law, 4 By 4 Brewing Company, PINE, Polish Pottery Shoppe, Tolbert Beadle Law, Wampler & Passanise, and Old World Realty.
Other area businesses, while not formally joining as members, have also been extremely generous in donating items for raffles. We are currently researching ways to create new connections with businesses that have not yet joined, get our area corporate businesses involved, and formulate a mechanism for businesses just outside our boundaries to partner with us. We are so grateful for our generous area businesses and the connectedness they are helping foster in Galloway!
