Halloween Parade – Oct. 31
It is almost spooky time! Planning has been underway for the Rountree Halloween Parade. We wanted to share a few tips for those that visit:
1. Parking: University Heights Baptist Church at 1010 S. National is one option. This year there will not be a food drive associated with parking. Thank you, UHBC!
If you park on the street, be mindful not to block driveways or sidewalks. Weller Street has parking only on one side.
2. Trick-or-treating: Many neighbors have asked that we spread the love beyond Weller and Pickwick to Fremont, Kickapoo, and Delaware.
3. Please, no motorized vehicles or floats in the parade for the safety of our littles.
4. Halloween is on Thursday, Oct. 31, rain or shine, and so is the parade! Parade start time is 5:30 p.m., at the intersection of Weller Avenue and Delmar Street. Line-up starts around 5-5:15.
5. Be safe, be respectful, and have fun!
Bass Pro Marathon – Nov. 3
Once again, the Bass Pro Marathon runs right through Rountree! Are you a runner? A volunteer? Either way, we’ve got you covered. Runners, what is your favorite marathon snack need? Pickle juice? Bananas? Something else? How can we help make your run great? Volunteers, we cannot do it without YOU. Every year we support the runners with a grand Halloween experience. Wear your costumes, bring your decorations and join the fun! The race starts at 7 a.m. Our assigned station at the corner at the corner of Delmar Street and Pickwick Avenue is in between miles 20 and 21, so we should expect the very first runners after 8:30. Contact Peggy (wise1peggy@gmail.com) or Nancy (n.c.evans2014@gmail.com) if you have questions or want to help. Hope to see you there!
Chalk Your Walk – Aug. 16
What beautiful weather we had to create art for National Chalk Your Walk Day, on Aug. 16! This year, the annual Chalk the Walks competition produced beautiful sidewalk art throughout Rountree. Prizes were donated for first, second and third-place drawings that are voted on by the neighborhood. Encouraging messages, bright flowers, graphic designs were enjoyed by our neighbors. THANK YOU to our artists for making Rountree even more lovely.
