On Sept. 16, 2019, the Grant Beach Neighborhood Association held a rededication ceremony for Grant Beach Neighborhood Garden. The garden was renamed Richard’s Roots, in memory of Richard Napieralski, who literally put his blood, sweat, and tears into the garden and passed away in August 2019.
Richard was an avid gardener (his entire backyard was a garden). Richard also helped establish the Grant Beach produce distribution, which provided fruits and vegetables to those who signed up. Richard had been a member of the Grant Beach Neighborhood Association for over a decade, having served as our treasurer many years ago. Many sadly miss Richard, and this is our small way of remembering him.
Richard’s sister and son were in attendance and livestreamed the event for his daughter, who was unable to attend. Several friends of Richard’s were in attendance as well.
