The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is announcing multiple satellite locations where Women, Infants & Children (WIC) recipients can access benefits in-person. In response to COVID-19, WIC moved from in-person appointments to phone appointments to safely serve WIC participants, but WIC food benefits must be loaded onto eWIC cards in-person.
The Springfield-Greene County WIC program’s main office is located inside the Jordan Valley Community Health Center building at 440 E. Tampa St. in Springfield. The second office is located in Republic at 553 E Harrison. In addition to these locations, eWIC cards can be loaded at the following locations and times:
- Missouri Career Center – 2900 E Sunshine St, Springfield, MO 65804 every Monday from 8 am to 5 pm
- Renew United Methodist – 304 S Farmer Rd, Willard, MO 65781 every Tuesday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- NEST Partnership (formerly Westside Public Health Center) – 660 S Scenic, Springfield, MO 65802 every Wednesday from 8 am to 5 pm
WIC’s mission is to safeguard the health of women, infants and children who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to enhance diets, information on healthy eating and referrals to health care and other community resources. The Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services renewed the Health Department’s WIC contract for fiscal year 2021 in late 2020. Through this contract, the Health Department was able to serve 11,391 pregnant women, infants, and children in fiscal year 2020.
WIC services are provided to eligible women who are pregnant, breastfeeding and/or post-partum mothers, as well as infants and children up to the age of five. The income eligibility threshold is 185-percent of the federal poverty level. For a family of three, that currently equates to an annual household income of about $39,461. For a family of four, the threshold is $47,638. If you meet one of these thresholds and need assistance, you are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 417-864-1540.
