Mark Twain has had a busy spring! We held our neighborhood cleanup on May 5. While it rained on us most of the day, we ended the day with a total of 4.5 trash bins and almost three bins filled with yard waste. We greatly appreciated all of the volunteers that came out and for Sunset Church of Christ for hosting again this year.
As part of the Neighborhood Works project, we have taken up maintenance for the corner lot at Sunshine and Kansas Expressway to make it a beautiful greenspace. We had our first cleanup event in May and removed the large pile of leaves at the fence corner and most of the invasive vines growing around the older trees. The City has planted a few new trees for us and we have added some spring flowers as well. We are looking for volunteers for the Greenspace Committee to decide how to proceed with the space.
Looking forward, we are starting the planning process for our fall BBQ and looking at ideas to bring our community together.
