Springfield Mayor Ken McClure has launched a podcast called “SGF Local Matters” aimed at shining a light on the area’s fascinating people and taking listeners and viewers behind the scenes of the City’s projects and initiatives. The podcast is available on both Apple and Spotify platforms, with a video version also available on YouTube and at CityView.springfieldmo.gov.
The Mayor’s co-host is Cora Scott, the Director of Public Information & Civic Engagement for the City of Springfield. McClure and Scott are excited about using a new platform to engage Springfieldians in learning more about the community and, in particular, the local government.
“I am excited about having meaningful and interesting conversations with some of our community’s most interesting people, and in the ability to have an in-depth conversation about the many projects the City has underway,” said Mayor McClure. “We hope people will tune in and maybe decide to engage further by joining a board or commission, or even participate in the civic process of making our city better.”
The first episode features Mark Hecquet, president and CEO of Springfield Convention & Visitors’ Bureau. Mark shares his journey across the pond to ultimately land in Springfield, Missouri as the chief marketer.
