Midtown back to school party Aug. 23

Everyone from the Midtown neighborhood and Boyd Elementary community is invited to celebrate a new school year and support student success at Boyd Elementary 6-8 p.m., Friday Aug. 23.

This 24th annual cookout at Washington Park will have free hot dogs, bratwurst, hamburgers, baked beans, chips, cookies, watermelon, soft drinks and water along with children’s activities, face painting, games and two inflatables! A DJ will be crankin’ out fun music, Springfield Little Theatre’s Teen Players will be performing and available for pictures with the kids! A fire truck from the Springfield Fire Department and representatives from neighborhood after-school and community programs will all be on hand.

Volunteers are needed, please volunteer by contacting the Midtown Neighborhood Association’s Facebook page.

We are also celebrating 24 years of the enhanced partnership between Boyd and Drury University, 20 years of the Culture Club after-school program at Central Christian Church and 14 years of the International Baccalaureate sponsored, Primary Years Program!
