The City of Springfield and Buc-ee’s cut the ribbon Dec. 11, 2023 on Missouri’s first Buc-ee’s location at 3284 N. Beaver Road (formerly Mulroy Road) off of Interstate 44 in northeast Springfield. The 53,000-square-foot convenience store has a cult following with its large variety of food, drinks and souvenirs. The Springfield store has more than 200 employees whose pay starts at $15-17 per hour.
The store is expected to attract about 6 million customers per year with 88% of its customers traveling more than 20 miles from Springfield.
Buc-ee’s was founded in Lake Jackson, Texas in 1982. It opened its first store outside of Texas in 2018 and operates 47 stores across Texas and the South. Additional stores are under development in Colorado, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and Louisiana.
The City’s Economic Vitality Department worked with Buc-ee’s to bring the location to Springfield with a $4.1 million infrastructure reimbursement agreement and Community Improvement District. Learn more at https://www.springfieldmo.gov/5698/Buc-ees.
