Thanks to the Springfield-Greene County Park Board for replacing the Tammy Haynes Memorial Tree at Nichols Park, adding stakes and ties. Friends, neighbors, please keep an eye on this tree, and everything at our beautiful newly renovated park. The weekend of Aug. 18-19, Tammy’s tree was broken at the base by vandalism or high winds.
See something that needs attention at the park? Call us at 864-1049. See something suspicious? Call 911 and ask for a park ranger or police to be dispatched.
The neighborhood remembered former Heart of the Westside Neighborhood Association President Tammy Haynes Aug. 7 with a flowering crabtree planting ceremony at Nichols Park. Tammy passed away on Jan. 17 after battling cancer.
“We will always remember her for her positive outlook, tireless work, and a heart and soul commitment to her neighborhood and the north side. Please join us to memorialize Tammy in her beloved Nichols Park,” said Zone 1 Councilwoman Phyllis Ferguson.
