At its Feb. 9 meeting, Springfield Public Schools’ board awarded a $1.7 million construction bid to DeWitt Construction. Due to the extent of renovations needed at Sunshine Elementary, this additional scope of work could not be accomplished in the original timeline, and will be completed prior to the 2021-22 school year. The scope of work for this second phase includes replacing the roof, facia, soffits, guttering, tuckpointing, windows and exterior doors of the original building. Sidewalk repair, handrails and ramps will also be addressed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.
