Rountree residents walk, ride, or run to Casper’s! The long-awaited opening of Casper’s has finally happened, located in the building that formerly housed Anton’s Coffee Shop, at 937 S. Glenstone. Kitchen Manager Ed Tucker was kind enough to take a few minutes to chat with me. At 1:30 on a Wednesday afternoon the restaurant was busy and people were still walking in. One can only assume they were going to order one of the many delicious items, fully smothered in chili. Previously served only on Mondays, Veggie chili is now available every day. A new item will soon appear on the menu as well. What will it come with? Chili, of course! Is the chili spicy? Nope, but for the spice-fire lover there is a plethora of hot sauces from which to choose, including the specially ordered Gunslinger, made with red jalapenos. Neighbors, we now have smashburgers and chili in the neighborhood. As Ed says, “come on in, it’s been a while!”
Casper’s is open 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with a drive-through opening hopefully mid-September.
