This will be a very different summer, as we contend with safety precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. But the Springfield-Greene County Library District’s annual Summer Reading Program goes on, and for all ages.
The program continues through Aug. 29 for babies through adults. Anyone can enroll at thelibrary.org/imagineyourstory.
Register online, or on a paper form at any library branch or Mobile Library, follow the links to the program that fits you, and start reading minutes and complete activities to earn great prizes. Game boards can help motivate kids to keep reading; you can download one on the Summer Reading Program page.
The Summer Reading Program builds reading skills for all kids! Babies and pre-readers learn skills that help them become strong readers, and young readers strengthen and advance their skills. When siblings read to each other, they both win!
Kids and teens can earn a free book and a Fine Waiver Card upon completing the program. Pick up your prizes at any library branch or Mobile Library through August 29.
Keep reading to earn Star Reader entries in the end-of-summer drawings. Prizes include reading totes, coupons for free books and gift cards from Amazon and local businesses.
Adults can Imagine Your Story and earn prizes, too! Register at thelibrary.org/imagineyourstory, log books, write book reviews and complete activities. Or, log your registration, books, and activities on forms available on the website or at the checkout desk of any library branch and the Mobile Library when the buildings reopen. As you log books, write reviews and complete activities, you earn entries into the Sept. 5 drawings for gift sets featuring products from local businesses. Keep reading and earning entries all summer long for the September drawings.
