On May 21, Williams Elementary celebrated the end of their school year in an exciting way: by touring their new school’s construction.
More than 150 students K-5 were able to visit the new northwest Springfield elementary school construction site. SPS Bond Projects Manager Bryan Saunders, alongside Nabholz Construction leaders, guided small groups of students safely through the school’s construction site.
“The students were beyond thrilled to see our new building,” said Williams principal Amanda Desa. “They were amazed at how large the new school was and they all wanted to know which classroom they were going to be in next school year. I think the space they were most excited about, outside of their new playground, were the collaborative learning spaces. As I described how they’d use the space, the students all told me they couldn’t wait to come back next school year.”
In small groups by grade level, Williams Elementary students were able to explore their school’s construction. From collaborative spaces to classrooms, students were eager to see where they’ll learn – and what it will look like when completed in August.
“Our brand new building will be something not only our students can be proud of, but our north side community can also be proud of,” Desa added.
