The Structured Landscape

Landscape paintings have been a popular genre with artists and art lovers for generations. Landscape paintings which include huts, houses, buildings or other structures usually evoke a different type of response or feeling.

Humans relate to structures in many ways, perhaps because they are familiar and suggest a memory, or maybe it is strange and creates questions in their minds. Have you ever looked at a painting with an old broken-down barn or house, and thought; that looks almost like my grandparent’s farm, or a place that I pass by often?  Maybe you wonder who lives there, where it is located, or if the building is still standing.

The museum’s hours are:

• Sunday 1-5 p.m.
• Monday Closed
• Tuesday – Wednesday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Thursday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
• Friday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• City and national holidays closed
